I am finally starting to brewing my way through Brewing Classic Styles! It took me a while to post about it but life gets in the way sometimes of what you want to do vs what you have to do.
I am very lucky that a home brew shop just opened up within a 5 min walk (Gnome Brew) of my house this past month. I was able to find all of my supples for the recipe. I was very prepared for this brew day. My cousin Mike has made fun of me when I tell him my stories about how brew day has gone, calling me the “Yeah, but…” brewer.
For brewing, I use the BIAB method and usually make only 3 gallons for my 2.5 gallon keg. I was able to hold my mash temp fairly well during the 90 min mash. I got a really good rolling boil because I was under the volume I expected. Fermentation was quite active, I had the airlock overflowing with blowoff when I checked in one day last week. I hope to check this weekend on how it is coming along and if the gravity is where it needs to be before I transfer to the keg. Here are some pictures from my brew day.
